I dont know how I came up with the title Captured and Framed. But it describes my mission and approach to photography. Whenever I pick up the camera and start shooing my intent is to somehow capture and frame the spirit of the moment.

My favorite subject to shoot is the environment. Composing and framing a landscape shot that will somehow "move mountains" in the viewers mind. Places I enjoy taking pictures at is the Pacific Northwest and in my home state Hawaii. I hope one day to be able to compose pictures in Japan and Alaska.

Working with people and portraiture is difficult for me because capturing one spirit required a trust, a understanding, and a relationship. Capturing the spirit of the individual and framing them in an artistic manner takes time and often quick thinking. But none the less I am beginning to "see" ways to do this and beginning to enjoy it more. My goal is to take cultural pictures in Japan, portraits of tattoos, and the lines the human body can create.

I also create projects for myself. Currently i am working on "Exposed at Night". Taking pictures at night and trying to have the character of night create and find the extraordinary in the ordinary subject. Future projects will be "Quest" and "Rides".

Please check back every month for new pictures and galleries. I always enjoyed looking at pictures and try to interpret the technical aspects of the photo as well as what the composition is saying. I hope you enjoy my photos and that they move mountains within you.
